A library is the heart of any educational institution, and K.C. Das Commerce College's library is no exception. It is the hub of academic activity of the college, comprising the library staff, reading materials, and readers.

The K.C. Das Commerce College Library is regarded as one of Assam's top college libraries, offering readers excellent services. The library has been intended to complement the knowledge that students learn from their teachers. It is a place of attraction amongst the students.



A snap of the library 

The library has two floors. -

Ø  Ground Floor: The ground floor of the library houses the Stack Room, Circulation Desk, OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), Property Shelf, Manuscript Section, Librarian's Room, Library Server Room, and Xerox Counter.

Ø  First Floor: The first floor of the library includes one reading room that accommodates 115 individuals. There is also a wooden periodical stand for keeping current journals, periodicals, and magazines. A separate e-resource center with 32 PCs is set up on the first floor, where users can access e-resources and use free internet services. The first floor of the library also houses the K.C. Das Commerce College Publication Cell and a Store Room.

A total of 29,795 books are currently in the library's collection, and this number is constantly increasing to meet the needs of the institution. The library is fully automated with Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) SOUL 2.0 software, developed by the INFLIBNET Centre. One dedicated server and six numbers of client PCs are working in the SOUL 2.0 environment. Two client PCs are dedicated to the OPAC.

 Main Objectives of the Library:

  • Encourage students to study beyond the requirements of the curriculum. 
  • To acquire, organize and modernize the library collection to support the teaching-learning process 
  • Provide free accessibility to information resources of the library. 
  • Provide different facilities and services to the student community and the teaching community to discover needed information and access them according to their priority. 
  •  Build up a resourceful and effective college library capable of to adapt the changing academic environment.
